A two day event drawing creative entrepreneurs from all levels of experience, PARKFORUM is an educational weekend focused on teaching attendees how to grow and sustain their businesses in the creative industry.
Sessions include art and fashion-specific topics, networking opportunities with industry and government professionals, as well as broader topics that are valuable to any business owner in the creative industry. The information and insights offered, as well as workshop activities and take-home materials provided, will ensure that every FORUM attendee concludes the event feeling informed and thoroughly inspired to apply what they have learned within their own practices.

Miriam Alden is the founder, creative director and CEO of Brunette Showroom, Brunette the Label, and her most recent project, “The Babe List." She is a proud wife, sister, daughter, friend, entrepreneur and lover of animals and life. She started in the fashion industry straight out of BCIT in 2005, and has worked in all aspects of the business ever since, from fashion writing to brand building and everything in between. Miriam launched Brunette Showroom in 2009, and then Brunette the Label in early 2014. She has built her businesses based on Brunette’s vision - Uplifting All Babes All Day Everyday - and living her life motto of "Babes Supporting Babes". Miriam has a mission to create a lifestyle of collaboration through her brand, and to change the meaning of the word “babe” to a source of positivity around self love. She heads an incredible team in Vancouver who all make the Brunette world go round, is currently working on Brunette's growth into the US with a team of reps, and is launching soon with two major retailers in Australia and New Zealand! If not working, you can find Miriam at the stables training as a competitive equestrian with her horse Josephine, or heading to her next travel destination where she draws inspiration for her life and her brand.
Janis is a graduate of MacEwan University’s public relations program and has worked in media and communications for a decade with organizations and brands such as DKNY, gravitypope, Simons, and the Art Gallery of Alberta.
She has worked as a freelance writer with top media outlets including FLARE Magazine and the Edmonton Journal. Janis has developed an influential network of media, and is a go-to source for all things fashion, art and beauty in Edmonton.
Janis launched Publicity Room in 2015 recognizing a gap in public relations support for fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands in Western Canada.
Alison Geskin has an unparalleled track record of producing winning results in the areas of strategic leadership, earned and contributed revenue generation, relationship building, business development as well as marketing and communications. She has earned a national reputation for her strategic leadership and collaborative style that consistently exceeds both financial and mission-related targets.
In 2016, Mrs. Geskin took the helm of The Art of Strategy, a boutique firm that specializes in assisting both not-for-profit and corporate organizations realize their true growth potential by offering a wide variety of services. Building capacity, mobilizing change and achieving sustainable results.
Linda Maslechko founded and was CEO for Triple Flip, a tween girls’ lifestyle brand that delivered an empowering social mission to tweens across Canada, and with it, grew a cult following. Triple Flip decked out a generation of tweens from 2005 - 2017, starting from its grassroots in Calgary, surpassing $11 million in sales and growing to 12 stores across Canada, at a rate of more than 30% per year for 10 consecutive years. Having built a fashion brand from the ground up, from creating the brand vision and creative direction to the product strategy, design and development, to the day to day management of a vertical fashion retail company, Linda has celebrated the highs and struggled through the lows, taking with her the kind of key learnings that don’t come out of textbooks. Linda has been recognized with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, ARC Award for Achievement in a New Retail Concept, Top 20 Leaders of Tomorrow Award, and taken the runway at LG Toronto Fashion Week. Linda is now working as an independent consultant, applying her expertise to helping entrepreneurs move from surviving to thriving, in this challenging environment, with a focus on Business Acceleration and Brand Strategy.
Kofi is co-owner of the jewelry brand Coutukitsch Inc., and 1 of 4 owners of the of The Livery Shop in Inglewood. Originating from Toronto, his work brought him to Calgary in the Fall of 2009. Kofi has over 15 years of retail experience and his roles have included sales associate, buyer, and now owner/COO. With his sales experience and people skills he helped to grow CoutuKitsch from a side hustle that started in 2010 to a full time career for him and his wife. By 2014 the jewelry brand had outgrown their home office and the opportunity to open a retail space and jewelry workshop presented itself. The Livery Shop was born. Kofi currently spends the majority of his time running the shop in Inglewood along with his team.
Glenn is a true pioneer in the Mascot Industry, both as a performing mascot himself and then as a maker of quality mascot costumes. Over 30 years ago Glenn performed as the first-ever Mascot in the NHL (National Hockey League). He performed the duties and hilarious antics of “Harvey the Hound” for the Calgary Flames. The popularity of his performances prompted many other NHL teams to contact Glenn and ask him to create mascot characters for them as well. Twenty years later, Street Characters is still the world leader in creating the Absolute Best quality mascots, and has been chosen by over one thousand different organizations, teams, and schools.
The years of experience and careful expertise that we have gained by our hands-on approach in the industry is built into every mascot costume made by Street Characters Inc. When we say that our mascot costumes are “Made by mascots for Mascots”- we mean it. Glenn Street has been there since day one!
Jenn Delconte is a marketing strategist who is passionate about enabling people to connect. She founded Catalystica, a boutique event management and marketing agency that organized 61 events, impacting 9200 event attendees in 11 different cities in 2.5 years. Jenn has worked with several entrepreneurial-support organizations across Western Canada and brings a wealth of community-building knowledge to Calgary’s innovation ecosystem. In her current role as Community Manager of Startup Calgary, Jenn collaborates with members of the Calgary Innovation Coalition to build programming and provide support for early-stage tech entrepreneurs in Calgary. When she’s not talking about startups or entrepreneurship, Jenn is exploring the mountains with her husband and two dogs.
Quan is a highly experienced chartered professional accountant with a very diverse background. Quan spent eight years honing his craft at a worldwide “Big Four” accounting firm dealing with everything from small businesses to multinational corporations. While there he also became a U.S. CPA and obtained a Master’s Degree in U.S. Tax.
All this has helped Quan understand the big issues facing small businesses. Whether it is assisting on a start-up, dealing with foreign expansion or asset acquisitions, or winding up a business, Quan has seen it.
Kevin Langman co-founded Finovo based on a simple mantra, "No Bullshit Financial Advice." He knew from firsthand experience, the financial industry was plagued with those only looking to line their own pockets, putting their interests ahead of their clients. Finovo provides unbiased financial advice to young professionals who are unwilling to settle for an ordinary life.
Kevin believes in living life to the fullest. When he's not spending time helping clients hack their way to financial freedom, he's travelling the globe and training for the Ironman. He is a proud born and raised Calgarian.
