Raised in the prairies of Alberta, Melissa is a visual artist who has a close relationship with weaving and craft-oriented visual art. Graduating from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2013, Melissa's artistic vision is imbued with a profound appreciation for natural forms. Her designs echo the lush, intricate textures found in nature, capturing the essence of dense and verdant landscapes.

Anna Palmer is a Calgary-based artist who graduated from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2013 with a major in Print Media. Her current artistic practice delves into the rich tapestry of familial tradition, focusing on a lineage of tailors that stretches across generations. Inspired by the legacy of her family, both past and present, Anna explores themes of hegemony and feminist ideologies through her intricate textile creations. Her work is a visual exploration of identity, particularly inspired by the writings of bell hooks, and influenced by the stories of all the strong women she has encountered throughout her life.

Julianne, also known as Furrera J, is an artist living in Calgary, AB. Although her first formal prelude into the art world was in Fashion Design, she was inescapably drawn to more expansive forms of self expression through painting. From dreamy portraits to murals inspired by the natural world her work is tailored to combine both her love for creating on canvas and with fabric.

Naomi Hoffman is an illustrator and designer currently living in Calgary, Alberta. Being a graduate from the Alberta University of the Arts, Naomi loves to problem solve for all sorts of creative projects. She primarily illustrates with digital software and enjoys incorporating a strong use of texture as well as colour throughout her work. 

Naomi is commonly inspired by the excitement of exploration, and the beauty of nature. She is imaginative with her designs which results in whimsical illustrations involving environments and characters. Naomi is also actively involved with hand painted projects throughout Calgary and is always eager to engage with the community.

Rachel Lyon is a Calgary-based muralist and illustrator with a love for botanicals + texture, and warm colour palettes. Her passion for community and small businesses is shown through various initiatives and donations. Rachel believes that art should be accessible to all people and that the city we live in becomes a better place to live when we all try to shop local and give back to our communities when possible. Sydonne Warren, a visual artist originally from Jamaica but raised in Calgary, Alberta, is known for her vibrant and expressive portrait paintings. She studied Architectural Technologies and Graphic Design at SAIT, and went on to major in Graphic Design at AUARTS. Sydonne has been honing her craft since 2013, and has recently expanded into public art, starting to create works in public spaces in 2020. Her talents don't stop there, as in 2021, she founded a paint and sip business that teaches adults how to create their own expressive portraits. Her artistic abilities have been recognized with Diversity magazine's Artist of the Year Award, and her work has been featured in various local media outlets. Sydonne's portraits often feature black women and incorporate geometric elements, with bright contrasting colors, drips, and spatters adding depth and conveying her cultural experiences.

Driven by her unwavering passion for art, Sumin made the bold decision to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a full-time freelance artist. With a solid foundation in design and diverse mural projects, her vibrant and whimsical illustrations reflect her personality, aiming to inspire love and make a positive impact on the community. Her art carries messages of kindness, joy, and connection, forging a deep bond between the art and its viewers. With dedication and a belief in the power of art, Sumin envisions a future where her creations act as a catalyst for positive change, spreading joy and wonder far and wide. As she embarks on this exciting new chapter, her captivating illustrations promise to leave a lasting imprint on the communities she touches.

Ryan Coulson is a multi-disciplinary artist and creative producer, based in Calgary, Alberta. After graduating with a double major in drawing and jewelry design / fabrication from the Alberta College of Art + Design, his personal practice focuses on illustration, design, marketing, and brand development.

Vanja Kragulj is a Canadian illustrator, surface designer, and art educator, who's known for her colourful and whimsical style. Her portfolio includes everything from children's books and toys to public art and commercial illustration.

She's worked with many wonderful clients including: Hallmark UK, UK Greetings, Workman Publishing, Galison Mudpuppy, Scholastic, Quarto Publishing, AUZOU, Fleurus Éditions, IMAGE Group Holland, Bravery Magazine, Highlights For Children and OWL Kids.

When she's not illustrating, Vanja teaches illustration workshops to children and adults at her studio. Her workshops are often inspired by children's books, illustration, and graphic design.

She lives with her son Jun, husband Kenji and their miniature husky, Hero in Calgary, Canada. If she’s not at her studio or working on an illustration project, you will likely find her at a local bookstore or library browsing the children’s book section.

Maddie Cook is an emerging artist from Calgary, Alberta, with a passion for painting. She knew in high school that she wanted her career to have an artistic focus and pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Visual Studies from the University of Calgary. She started Maddie Customs in April 2020, a small business where she paints custom artwork on sneakers. She has cultivated and built her business through a following on Instagram and continues to explore the concept of wearable art. Maddie loves providing unique and creative designs that are personalized for her customers.

Tiffany Lynn Cuffley is a multidisciplinary artist based in Mohkinstsis / Calgary with a background in Performance Arts. Tiffany studied at Mount Royal University and Company Of Rogues in performing arts and is a former professional figure skater with Disney On Ice. She draws inspiration from exploring design, pattern and the geometry of movement.
Her work has been a part of group shows, solo exhibitions as well as restaurant, retail and corporate murals/installations including Sammie Cafe, Corner Block Bridgeland, Renegade Gym, Una Pizza + Wine, Vertigo Theatre Gallery, XO Treatment Room, Brookfield Properties, Deloitte Inc, Calgary Stampede dream home and BUMP mural festival. Tiffany is currently focusing on large scale murals and installations.

Mide Kadiri is a multidisciplinary storyteller who uses art to tell complex andvisual stories. The mediums he practices with are ink on paper, digital arts, literature, animation, film and video, painting, murals, and exhibitions. He has been into creating art since he was a child and he taught himself how to draw and color. He is currently a U of C and SAIT graduate with a major in film studies and video production.

His exhibition “Spacetime and Love" is live at the Window Galleries located in the Art Commons. He has also worked on mural projects with YYC BUMP and the City of Calgary.Throughout 2023-2024, he will be working on his short, animated film with Quickdraw Animation Society. His film will screen at the GIRAF festival in November 2024.

Madeline Yee is a Chinese Canadian illustrator with a background in design and science, and a passion for bringing unique stories to life through visuals. Her style is characterized by fun yet thoughtful compositions and flowing, textured elements that provide a sense of whimsy and wonder. She strives to build accessible and engaging learning experiences through her art, ensuring that complex concepts are communicated in a way that is respectful and clear to a broader audience. Her practice is currently based in both Edmonton and Toronto.

Tierney Milne is a Montreal-born, Vancouver-based artist and muralist who focuses on interrupting people’s day with positivity. With a background in Psychology and Illustration and Design, Tierney is armed with a keen interest in how simple shapes and colours affect our wellbeing. No matter the medium, she aims to inspire the inner child and combine intentional compositions, bold palettes and vibrant patterns to engage imagination and brighten viewers’ days.
Previous select clients include McDonald’s, lululemon, Today at Apple, Purolator, Foot Locker and a variety of mural festivals in Canada and USA.

Tyler Lemermeyer's work is bold and graphic, with vibrant and minimal colour palettes. He constantly explores the balance between realism and abstraction in his work, using playful and lighthearted themes to inspire delight in the viewer. Lemermeyer draws inspiration primarily from his surroundings, often depicting objects, portraits, and landscapes of the places he finds himself. He has been a practising illustrator and muralist in Calgary since 2012, and he is always looking for new opportunities to share his work with more people.

Natalia Ionescu is a Romanian-Canadian illustrator and designer based in Calgary, AB. She holds a Bachelor of Design degree, with a major in Illustration from the Alberta University of the Arts. With a focus in communication design and visual development, Natalia’s illustrations explore a variety of stories, characters, and environments through a distinctly cute and playful visual approach. She is motivated by the power of visual storytelling, often exploring expressive figures, whimsical settings, and organic elements in her work.

Graduating from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2013, Melissa has spent years exploring her relationship to the land in many forms of mediums. As a florist and avid gardener with over a decade of experience her designs embrace a lush and dense structure, mirroring what we see in nature.

Shirley Vuong, also known as “Elsie”, is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Calgary, Alberta.

Art has always been a big part of her life, through experimenting with different mediums, such as: drawing, painting, graffiti, and cooking. She pushed it further by attending culinary school, and then design school. Inspired by the array of colours and the ability to manipulate and create intricate sculptures, this is where Shirley found her love for tactile design. Her creations are handcrafted and made entirely of paper; they are whimsical, playful and vibrant, with faceted faces. Her work plays on the notion of surprise and encourages thinking outside the box, and aims to embolden others to believe they can create something amazing with as little as a piece of paper. She's done work for clients in Canada, US and Australia.

Jayden is a third year student at Alberta University of the Arts, pursuing her Bachelor of Design. She enjoys working in and exploring various avenues of design including brand design, information design, packaging, and motion graphics. Jayden is always eager for new experiences to hone her skills. She believes in using design as a tool for communication and problem solving, but also as an artistic medium.

Angelina Myers has been honing her skills in multi-media artwork. Angelina has blended her skills in photography with her six years of painting/ sculpture experience, bringing about a perfect marriage of two passions. Angelina current studio work has been a sculpture, model photography and multimedia painting. Angelina holds an undergrad degree in Fine arts at the University of Arts in Calgary. Her studies are currently focussing on multi-disciplinary artwork, conceptual pieces and photography skill development.

Sydney Bruce is an emerging multidisciplinary textile designer and illustrator based in Calgary, Alberta. She was born and raised in Southern Ontario, where she attended Sheridan College. At Sheridan, she studied the visual arts, craft, and design. Sydney arrived in Calgary in 2020 to continue her education; this year she will be graduating from Alberta University of the Arts with a BFA in Fiber.

Sydney’s work is full of bright color, simplified shapes, and patterns. She finds inspiration in science fiction and in thinking of possible futures for humanity. Her current practice is developing fiber arts based on technology’s impact and involvement in society.

She is imaginative with her works which results in fantastical illustrations involving environments and characters. Naomi has also been involved with hand painted projects throughout Calgary and is always eager to engage with the community.

Maya was born and raised in Mexico City, now living in Calgary, AB, Canada, where she rediscovered her passion for art.

With over 20 years of graphic design experience, Maya decided to step back from that world in 2019 to pursue art.

Her graphic design background allows Maya to take any project from idea to completion.

Maya likes exploring techniques like watercolours, acrylics, mixed media and digital art. Her paintings are bold and vibrant. She is always looking to add the feeling of freedom to her art.

She has shown her work in 12 collective exhibits and 3 Solo art shows with SpanicArts at the 15+ galleries, the Consulate of Mexico in Calgary, McDougall Centre Art Exhibit, cSPACE King Edward and the Sothern Jubilee Auditorium.

Maya has also worked on a big scale, creating murals for community projects with Cresent Heights and Mount Pleasant. Maya loves collaborating with communities to make art available to everyone.

She runs her art studio from home; she is currently creating a new collection of original artwork.
