Start the morning off at Fort Calgary to learn about the dynamic story of East Village. From its origins as Mohkinstsis (Blackfoot), Wîchîspa (Nakoda) and Guts’ists’i (Tsuut’ina) to its more recent history as home to a national historic site where 150 members of the North-West Mounted Police built Fort Calgary in 1874. After your tour, head to EV's newest dining spot to enjoy a delicious brunch! Embrace the whimsy and admire the quirk of East Village by taking a tour of the neighbourhood’s public art! Don't miss Bridge, the newest installation along RiverWalk from local artist Katie Green which features 13 bold and colourful characters staring out from 16 different surfaces. Visit the Otahpiaaki 2019 Winter Count Market at the historic St Louis Hotel — right across from the Central Library! Explore and support Indigenous fashion and accessory designers from Tsuut'ina to Diné-Navajo territories. This one-day-only market will be open to the public from 12 - 6 PM. After the runway show, head to East Village's worst kept secret hideaway, Yardarm. Just a block and a half east of the Central Library, this moody lounge features some of the city’s most inspired libations, share plates, and smooth Jazz every Friday and Saturday night. Just look for the glowing neon sign enticing you to ‘Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride'.
