Promenade Patio season has arrived! Kick back, grab a bite, and soak in those summer rays at the city of Lougheed’s vibrant new outdoor patio and art space created in collaboration with PARK. Visitors will find a number of eye-catching seating options across the large patio, which includes a radiant modular canopy for those seeking shade, as well as lively splashes of art throughout the venue thanks to three local artists. Promenade Patio’s radiant and relaxing atmosphere makes it the perfect summer spot to recharge while snapping a few photos for the ‘gram. “Abstract Symphonies”

— In my decal design project for The City of Lougheed Shopping Centre, I sought to create a composition that would resonate with a wide audience, while maintaining a sense of visual simplicity and elegance. Inspired by the principles of minimalism, I employed basic geometric shapes as the foundation of the artwork. These shapes, with their clean lines and balanced proportions, serve as a visual language that transcends cultural boundaries, inviting viewers to find their own meaning within the composition. By stripping away excessive elements, I aimed to create a visual space where viewers can find solace, a sanctuary amidst the bustling environment of the shopping centre. Through the fusion of minimalism and universal appeal, my goal was to provide a design that not only enhances the aesthetics of the shopping centre but also enriches the experiences of those who encounter it.

“Sunny Disposition”

— Sunny Disposition is a painted series designed to activate a space through colour. It is a celebration of the vibrancy and playfulness of summer. Throughout the series, there are illustrative nods to familiar summer imagery such as beach balls, ice cream, pinwheels and nature. Each piece in the series is a different, but all are united in their colour scheme and sunny disposition.

Outdoor Canopy

“Jazzed and Sizzled (summer deconstructed)”

— For the design of the outdoor canopy I was inspired by the feeling of Summer, and pulling elements of a hot sunny day into the imagery, in a deconstructed and simplified way. Stylistically this design also pulls from art deco influences bringing in sunburst and fountains themes. There are allusions to a patio umbrella, a straw for your iced drink, pool tiles, and waves - all elements of a perfect summer day.

Ciele Beau

Ciele Beau is a multi-disciplinary visual artist and musician, based out of Vancouver, Canada. Ciele graduated with a BFA, Major in Visual Arts, from the University of Victoria, and received her 2D Design Certificate from Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

Her work focuses on the human condition, our emotional responses and everyday experiences. Pains, joys, conditions of the heart. Never one to be afraid of colour, Ciele loves to create paintings, illustrations and murals using bright bold hues and playful imagery.

Ciele is a full-time freelance creative, and has worked with companies such as Pabst Blue Ribbon, Warner Brothers (CW’s Riverdale), Simons, Slack, Adobe, Topo Chico Hard Seltzer, Vancouver Opera, Vancouver Mural Festival, Vancouver Pride, Georgia Straight, Sarah McLachlan School of Music, and more.

Annie Chen (Lemonni)

Annie is the creative force behind LEMONNI. As a self-taught designer/artist, she channels her passion for prints and patterns into mesmerizing works of art. Annie's design journey is adorned with motifs featuring clean lines and a delightful colour palette. Her artistic style is characterized by whimsy and playfulness.

Annie finds inspiration in both her keen observations of the world and her vivid imagination. Her work reflects her deep connection to nature and her love for animals. Each piece is an attempt to capture the essence of her muses, infusing her creations with a touch of charm.

Cynthia Tran Vo

Cynthia Tran Vo is an award winning graphic designer, illustrator and muralist driven by curiosity.

As an illustrator, Cynthia’s work is characterized by her playful approach to colour and shapes. Using a geometric and vibrant styles, she draws upon motifs such as locations, nostalgia and tidbits from her everyday life. Similar to completing a puzzle, her work brings together shapes to form a harmonious and unique whole. Her creative process is rooted in experimentation, interpretation and discovery. She loves the challenge of reimagining and finding new ways to view shapes we’re familiar with, to bring a concept to life in her style.

In additional to her work as a designer and artist, Cynthia serves as the co-publisher and creative director of SAD Mag, a non-profit independant Vancouver publication featuring stories, art, and design.
