It’s back! Old Strathcona loves their coffee and treats, so head out and get your caffeine fix this February! PARK has partnered with the Old Strathcona Business Association for the exciting return of the Sweet Treats & Latte Festival. Over a dozen Old Strathcona bakeries and cafes will be participating in the month-long contest, and each will be featuring fun lattes, artisanal drinks, or sweet treats for you to try, enjoy, and even vote on!

This year, PARK has brought in the artistic talents of Sofia Capettini and Cory Bugden, along with CP Wood Gallery, to design and build some latte & dessert inspired installations. Now you’ll have a place to relax (and take some selfies) between festival destinations!

Submit your votes for best drink, best treat, best latte art, prettiest treat, and more. You’ll also receive a limited edition coffee sleeve or sticker designed by artists right here in Old Strathcona at Curio Studio (while supplies last). Head out this month to support some local businesses in the final stretch of winter with the Old Strathcona Latte Fesitval!

WAYS TO WIN

Share Your Photos – Fill your social feeds with photos of your treats and drinks with our coffee sleeves and stickers and you could win a $20 gift card from participating cafes and bakeries. Old Strathcona will be choosing 18 winners – one for every business! Use the hashtag #SweetTreatsYEG and tag them – @OldStrathcona – so they see your entries.

Best of the Fest – We’ll be asking you to try the entire Sweet Treats menu! Then you can vote on your favourite latte and sweet treat. Everyone who votes will be entered to win a gift card from the festival faves.

— This decal was designed to accompany a sweet installation created by PARK, creating a fun space for people to come together and take photos with friends and family while visiting the OSBA’s Sweet Treats & Lattes festival. I hope that when people visit the space, they feel a sense of child-like excitement while appreciating the simple pleasure of enjoying a sweet treat or beverage, made with love by a local business in the area.

Cory Bugden

Cory Bugden is a Canadian illustrator based out of Calgary, Alberta. Originally a graphic designer for an agency that served clients like Oakley, Speedo and Red Bull, Cory decided to further his artistic capabilities at the Alberta University of the Arts in 2016, completing his degree in 2020. Cory uses bright colours with a fun and whimsical illustration style that can force a smile on anyone's face. In the future, he’d like to become a studio-owner, creative director, children's book illustrator and amateur freestyle rapper.

Sofia Capettini

Sofia is a graphic designer & illustrator based in Alberta. She graduated from the University of Alberta’s Bachelor of Design program in 2021 with hope to continue using her design skills to foster meaningful connections. In her spare time, she enjoys shooting photos on film, creating fun illustrations and trying out yet another new hobby.
